WHO CAN ENTER SUN35
PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE UK REGIONS
from... the South West, East & West Midlands, East of England... to the Scottish Isles
(plus Wales and all Ireland)
The SUN AWARDS are run by photographers for photographers and all who use, commission and buy photography.
WHAT YOU CAN SUBMIT
- images can be either Commissioned or Non-commissioned
- within the disciplines of... advertising, editorial, fashion, design
- submissions should be as single images, no series, not previously entered in SUN
- no timeframe for origination, we assume you want us to see what's relevant now
- you may enter as many images as you like
- maximum of 4 images from any one entrant will be included in the final selection
- Inclusion of successful images in the SUN book is a requirement of entry (see below)

COLOUR SPACE:
Entries should be submitted as
- RGB, JPEG files at Best Quality (12),
- with Adobe RGB 1998 embedded profile
FILE SIZE:
- Longest edge ideally should be 8000 pixels (min 6750 pixels)

SUN BOOK
The SUN book is a self-funding element of SUN and is only possible with contributions from its photographers.
By entering the competition you agree that for each image selected you will contribute £55 (SUN36) towards the costs of the book.
Judging:
50 images will be selected to form this year's SUN Awards.
All judging curators are independent, creative industry peers.
All images are viewed as anonymous.
A maximum of 4 images will be selected from any one entrant.
Awards Presentation & Exhibition:
The Awards will be presented on the launch night of the exhibition displaying all the winning entries. This takes place in the latter part of the year.
The exhibition may also tour to other venues around the country.
Showcases:
Winning entries will feature in the various SUN media channels, which include both printed and online media, including social media.
The process:-
- SUN Awards Call for Entry opens once a year.
- Received entries are collated following the closing date.
- All entries are viewed anonymously.
- Entries are judged individually (no group images/series)
- The top 50 images are selected and will appear in the SUN exhibition and publications: with no more than 4 images selected from any one entrant.
- Of these the top 3 images are awarded on merit.
- Only after all the final results have been recorded, and the adjudicator has been satisfied, are the winning entries matched with their creators names.
- Notifications are sent by email within approximately 14 days of judging.
Professional Verification
By entering the SUN Awards all entrants agree that for the purposes of verifying their professional status and location they 1) may be visited by the organisers or their agents 2) and agree to provide supporting evidence on request.
Any entrant who does not meet the criteria will forfeit all fees and other monies and agree to cover all consequential costs which can include reconvening the judging panel and reprinting the SUN book.
The judges decisions are final
Judges may withhold giving any awards, or may select extra entries for attention as they see fit. Where the judges feel that entries do not meet their desired level of attainment, no refund of fees can be made.
Entries not complying with entry criteria or submission deadline may not be judged and will not be refunded.
Adjudicator
If you have entered the current competition and have a concern about the competition or judging process, please use our contact page to address the adjudicator and they will investigate your query.
Promoting your work and Shotupnorth / SUN Awards
In order for Shotupnorth to carry out its remit, by submitting your images you are granting permission for their use in the promotion of Shotupnorth / SUN Awards, without further claim or compensation.
VOUCHERS/COUPONS
Only one type of voucher/coupon can be used for your SUN35 entries. Different discounts or offers cannot be combined.
NO VAT
VAT is not levied on Shotupnorth competitions or events.
