The call for entries for the SUN awards 06 will open on 4th MAY, the awards aim to promote commercial and advertsing photography in the north of the UK.
The awards are open to all commercial and advertsing photographers working in the north of england, midlands, wales, ireland and scotland, this year sees the addition of a category nominations for designers.
All shortlisted finalists are featured in the SUN book and Web site, and their photographs are exhibited in key venues in Manchester and around the country.
Organiser, Ed Horwich said: “In the fifteen year history of the awards we have consistantly seen very postitive results from people entering. The SUN awards book reaches all the main agencies and people are regularly commissioned from it.
The catergories are Best Image, Best Use of Image and this can include a campaign, editorial, or use in packaging etc, and Best Marketing of a photographer in Print or Web site.
Ed continued: “Following from the best use of image catergory successfully pulling in new and exciting work last year, this year the category is widening to allow entry submissions by designers and agencies nominating images that they have worked with.”
One of the 2005 winners, John Boyes a Yorkshire based photographer said:” The day after the awards I had the SUN logo on my website and in my press releases. Its been a great promotional tool. The SUN book is execellent to give to clients and prospective clients.
“Sun really promotes work in our region, which can be overlooked by agencies in the south and its run by photographers, its a really great initiative.”
The awards are sponsored by Fuji Film, Camerasure Alliance, Phase One, and supported by AOP, Redeye, Fresh and Bikini List.
